John Heron defines six major styles of intervention that we can use to increase the effectiveness of our communication skills in mentoring relationships. Effective  mentors are clear about intention of their interventions(questions ,statements,observations etc.)and are skilful in  their choice and application.The interventions are described according to their intention rather than content.As you read this list-think about which of these styles of intervention you usemost and least in your own communication with patients,colleagues and family.Notice whether you use some more than others.
