Today, more and more people every year go abroad to relax, study or work. Being abroad we are always road users. Not knowing the rules and signs and symbols, which are often written in English, you risk to get into a trouble. Planning to travel abroad to English speaking countries it is necessary to know the rules and road signs in this country. It will greatly help you.

Driving in the USA - Road rules and traffic laws

In general, it is really easy for an European visitor to move around and drive in the United States. Most signs are identical, starting with right-hand driving.

But some road signs are quite exotic, as here, in the vicinity of Grand Canyon National Park, near Flagstaff, Arizona.

But now lets tell some very useful and important information.

TRAFFIC SIGNS
Traffic signs control the flow of traffic, warn you of hazards ahead, guide you to your
destination, and inform you of roadway services. As indicated below, traffic signs are
intentionally color coded to assist the operator.
RED - stop
GREEN - direction
YELLOW - general warning
BLACK/WHITE - regulation
BLUE - motorist service (e.g., gas, food, hotels)
BROWN - recreational, historic, or scenic site
ORANGE - construction or maintenance warning

When you see a YIELD sign, slow down and be prepared to stop.
Let traffic, pedestrians, or bicycles pass before you enter the
intersection or join another roadway

You must come to a stop before the stop line, if there is one. If not, you must stop before you enter the crosswalk.

Red: Means the same as a STOP sign

Steady Yellow:

The light will change from green to red.

Be prepared to stop for the red light.

Flashing Yellow: Drive with caution

Steady Green:

Go, but yield the right-of-way to other traffic
