Our villageAltaisk  differs  little from tens other quiet villages  of  the Southern Siberia.Everything here is simple and quiet. Altaisk stretches atseventeen kilometers with the population of twenty four thousand inhabitants. It is the centre of the Altai District.§     The Altai district is located in the south-eastern part of Altai region. The area of its territory is 3, 5 thousands square kilometers. It borders on  Sovetsky district in the north-east;  Maiminsky district of the Altai Republic in the east, Shelabolihinsky and the Ust-Kanskiy districts of Altai Republic in the north; the Soloneshensky district and town Belokurikha in the west; the Smolensky district in the north-east.  Altai district stretches from the north to the south for 44, 74 miles (72 kilometers), and from the west to the east - 52, 20 miles (84 kilometers).
