• 1.Приветствие.

Good morning, dear children! I’m very glad to see you! Today we’re having a special day – one of the well-known American holidays. Let’s try to guess how it is called. You know a lot of English and American holidays. I’ll show you the pictures and you’ll try to name all of them.(Дети называют праздники по картинкам на слайдах презентации).

• 2.Выходят дети с буквами в руках и читают стихи:

T for time to be together, turkey, talk, and tangy weather.

H for harvest stored away, home, and health, and holiday.

A for autumn's frosty art, and abundance of the heart.

N for neighbors, and November, nice things, new things to remember.

K for kitchen, kettles' croon, kith and kin expected soon.

S for sizzles, sights, and sounds, and something special that abounds.

That spells THANKS — for joy in living and a jolly good Thanksgiving.

• 3.Thank you! Before we get to know the history of this holiday let’s read, translate and try to remember some new words (Дети повторяют за учителем новые слова, изображенные на слайде).
• 4.Children, did you know that American Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November? Thanksgiving day is the most important day in the American year. People go to church and families come together for the day. People decorate their houses with fruit and flowers of autumn and prepare traditional American food: turkey, potatoes and pumpkin. In 1620 one hundred and two colonists came to America on board of the ship “Mayflower” and began their new life there. They built the town called Plymouth. The Indians taught the pilgrims to grow corn, peas and carrots. In the autumn of 1621 people had their first harvest. It was rather good. They decided to have a special dinner. They wanted to thank God for many things. The year was difficult but people still had food to eat.
• 5.Let’s watch a short cartoon about Thanksgiving Day and its history. After watching I’ll ask you to answer some of my questions. Be very attentive, please! (Дети смотрят мультик об истории праздника)
• 6.Now you know the history of this holiday. Let’s divide into two teams “Pilgrims” and “Indians” and take part in a contest. Answer my questions, please. For every correct answer your team will get one point.(Викторина по мультику).
• 7.I see that you are almost experts in the history of this holiday and what about the food which can be seen on the table in Thanksgiving Day? Guess the riddles and name different kinds of food. For every correct answer your team will get one point. (Дети разгадывают загадки)
• 8.Now let’s warm up, as you are tired already, I suppose. Stand up and repeat after the announcer! (Дети смотрят видеофрагмент и повторяют за диктором)

• 11. You were really perfect! But our contest is not over yet. Americains like theCranberry sauce. Let’s make a receipt of a cranberry sauce all together. You are given the sentences, but they are mixed. Put them in a logical order.1.wash the cranberries; 2.put the cranberries and water in a saucepan; 3. bring to a boil; 4. cover the pan; 5. cook for 6 to 8 minutes; 6. remove the mixture from the heat; 7. stir in the sugar and salt; 8. mix thoroughly; 9. chill; 10. serve with turkey
